The Symbolic Power of Flowers in My Art
Since my first strokes, flowers have always been there. Not just as decorative elements or aesthetic subjects, but as powerful, living, almost sacred symbols. They convey what words sometimes struggle to express: delicacy, transformation, resilience.
The flower as the language of the soul
Each flower I paint is an emotion, a state of being. Some open fully, in an explosion of light. They embody joy, affirmation, and blossoming. Others remain in bud, more discreet, almost shy. They bear traces of doubt, fragility, or beginning again.
In my world, flowers are inherently feminine. They embody gentleness and strength, vulnerability and power. They mirror the body and mind, constantly evolving.
Deep roots
My attachment to flowers also stems from my roots. During my childhood in Haiti, nature was everywhere, lush, vibrant, and generous. Growing up in Quebec, this connection was transformed and refined. Flowers became bridges between cultures, between external landscapes and my inner ones.
Painting life in bloom
By painting them, I give them a voice. I make them eternal. They become the silent messengers of my art. They are the ones who guide the gaze, soothe, challenge, and amaze. They tell stories of rebirth, of rediscovered light, of enduring beauty.
