Contemporary Visual Artist
"I create paintings that invite us to pause, feel, and reconnect with the poetic dimension of life."
My name is Dani Grand-Pierre, known as Dani G-P, and I am a self-taught contemporary visual artist based near Montreal, Canada.
Through my work, I create a poetic visual universe where emotion, texture, and light intertwine. My paintings move fluidly between semi-realism and abstraction, guided by intuition and inner feeling.
I paint soulful portraits, delicate florals, and symbolic birds that evoke freedom, transformation, and inner awakening. Each painting becomes a space of quiet contemplation, an invitation to reconnect with the beauty that exists between dream and reality.
I was born in Haiti and arrived in Quebec at the age of 11, an experience that shaped my sensitivity to culture, nature, and human emotion.
Nature, femininity, and the emotional landscape of the human experience are central sources of inspiration in my work.
Working primarily with mixed media acrylic, inks, pastels, spray paint, and layered textures, I build compositions rich in depth, movement, and luminous contrasts. Through layers of color and gesture, I seek to create visual spaces where emotion can quietly emerge and where viewers can experience a personal connection with the work.
My artistic journey has not followed a straight line.
Before dedicating myself fully to painting, I worked for many years as a professional hairstylist and makeup artist, a craft rooted in transformation, expression, and human connection. This experience sharpened my ability to observe emotion, identity, and the subtle beauty present in every face.
I also studied psychosocial intervention, which deepened my empathy and understanding of human experience. This perspective continues to influence my artistic approach: I paint to give space to emotion, to reveal what is often invisible, and to create visual spaces where inner resonance can unfold.
To support the development of my artistic career, I later completed training in artistic entrepreneurship at Zoom Académie, where I learned to structure meaningful and authentic creative projects.
Beyond my studio practice, I am also a wife and mother of four children, including twins. This vibrant family life continually nourishes my artistic vision and reminds me of the importance of balance, resilience, tenderness, and joy.
These lived experiences naturally flow into my paintings, giving each work sincerity, warmth, and emotional depth.
My contemporary work explores themes of transformation, femininity, nature, and inner awakening.
Through layered textures, luminous colors, and intuitive gestures, I create paintings that exist between figuration and abstraction, where softness and strength coexist.
Each piece becomes a quiet moment of connection, a place where emotion, memory, and imagination can meet.
Working across mixed media acrylic, ink, pastel, spray paint, and layered textures, I strive to create artworks rich in depth, luminous light, and striking contrast.
My creations emerge from an intuitive inner feeling, gradually materializing into fragments of emotion suspended spaces that linger beautifully between dream and reality.
